Alex you need to buy a copy of last months Dirt Rider magazine. There is a really good article that gives the rundown on the Rekluse clutch (there are two available). I don't have time to go into it right now, but here is the link to their website...
And thank you pop, I will look into it and get back to you! Thank you very much for the offer.
Yeah Dag, this race was pretty intense. It is NOTHING like racing across the desert for 2 hours...

Here is another video from a fellow racer. This guy got the holeshot, slid out in the 1st turn, but made the save to stay ahead of me going into the single track...

I am posting one more helmet cam, part 5, scenes from my 3rd lap. My almost CHUD moment is at the beginning, in front of the spectators The 3rd lap was going good until my friend Jim goes to pass me on the "wall", where I lose my concentration and crash, sending him into the trees and I tumble backwards down the hill... Jim was chasing Joe, who won 1st place in the 30+vet class, and Jim finished 2nd place in that class. Here is the video I hope you enjoyed my writeup and the pics/vids

I dont see what made that guy fall, unless the guy behind him hit him from behind.
Good video Paul. Those rocks have to be hell on the tires.

That last vid really looked tough. How long does it usually take you to warm up and feel like your moving with the bike?

yeah pop the course really ate my brand new tire up! I'll try to get a good post-race picture of the tire I had a little fall like him, I think it was just a matter of bouncing off a rock and getting pitched sideways...

I was really tense for most of the first lap (about 35 minutes). I was so exhausted after my 1st lap I couldn't feel my bars (hands were numb), I even felt like quitting. Then I got calm, shook off the numbness, and started riding like I was on a trail ride, but with speed, got into a nice rhythm for the rest of the race, and finished the race feeling fine. I fell three or four times on that 1st lap, discovering the hard way that the process of falling down, getting up, restarting my bike and getting going again on an incline wasted TONS of energy! But it was still a great feeling of satisfaction to be able to finish

After reading this thread and going through the story on the home page I'm really bummed I missed out. There's good news, though: Organizers are almost 100% sure the race will be scheduled for a similar weekend in August 2010 AND it should be included as a round of the AMA Western Hare Scrambles series! I'm already looking forward to that!
