Ok, so for about 2weeks 4th, 5th, and 6th have been sticking on my lil brothers yz. But for some reason, today when he as on it he was shifting without the clutch and also keeping it pinned .  But when he pulled the cluth; shifting from 6th to 5th, an extremely loud knocking noise started. The bike still starts and I think he sed it was still pulling with the noise.

Please help
Alex.

Not sure yz. Is the noise only when you shift or dose it continue after the shift and dose it shift hard just before it starts making the noise?

You might have him check the Shift Cam and Forks then.

So he has had an issue for two weeks and kept riding till now its a major issue??  Bad decision.

Based on his shifting methods I'd say he has broken a gear dog or two.

Now with that noise he was still riding???

Drain the tranny oil and look for metal shavings or pieces.

Either way it looks like the cases will need to be split to see what is broken.

Well, None of this is going to be good. That noise is either bad pre detonation or your piston slapping the head! Bad crank, etc...That moter needs to come apart.
And do not ride it till you do!

I agree, i would never ride if I thought something was wrong; however small but he didn't tell us any of this until this knocking noise started!!!

He said he rode about 10yards then 'noticed' it.

Just drained the oil and it is clean - not black/milky and has NO metal at all!

I took the clutch cover off (and removed the cluth)to find there there was a circlip lying in the bottom of the case. It was from the sprocket that the kick start engages into, obviously it hadn't been installed/installed correctly therefore that was wobbly.

Thank-you everyone for your help

Really don't know where to go from here!!

You need to check your piston and crank before running the bike. JMO.
