KX00: I started with the 230 last fall and after 3 rides it seemed powerless. Its ok but when u get used to it you really want more. I never could ride wheelies with my 2008, hard to get the wheel up not sure where u get all the power from. I tried out a kx 125 this year and I still want something with more power now. Might have to upgrade next year again.
You didn't try hard enough to do wheelies. My buddy can do em on his 230 for like 600ft. STOCK.

Hey You guys know if its possible to get better throttle response out of the 230? Some simple carb adjustments? What do you mean by " un-corking' Smasher? I'd appreciate some info.. Thanks

i had a crf230 and never got the front end off the ground, unless honda changed the gearing it nearly impossible.my buddy had the ttr225 even bigger(weight)and suspension would wallow worse than the honda, but that thing was a wheelie machine, ive never ridden there version of the new 230,but it looks way slimmer the bike might be a little more nimble than its competitor.all i know is those bikes are nearly indestructible thats why the keep um on the weaker side.its to force us to buy a bigger bike, the total package is cheaper than tryin to mod out the 230,or at least comperable to the price.i did see a power up kit in the back of a dirt rider mag add 2 to 3 horsepower and drop 5lbs?sprocket and chain combo.

How come I can get my front end off the ground..and yet, Im over weight on that bike? I'm not good at it, but I have had some decent ones, all it is..is well practice. And your right, the bikes are nearly indestructible.
http://dirtbike.off-road.com/dirtbike/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=380749 Read that article. There is multiple topics under it, and it shows how to get the best out of your 230. Mine is still stock, but I can see some upgrades for the next season.

i had to rev that thing through the roof and abuse the clutch to get the front end to move.i dont know mabye it was a bad bike? it was a honda ya know?just kidding!all i know is that i give a slight twist to the throttle of my current ride and the front end magicaly floats,no popping of the clutch, just twist and go.if you can do it with your 230s god bless you!that little red bike took me everywhere my new bike does, but i enjoy the new ones total package(bigger dissplacement, suspenion, color blue, and so on)someone said on this thread it doesnt matter what you ride as long as you ride.

It isn't really a beginner bike its a trail bike it wasn't made to hit 40 foot long jumps it was made for riding hard trails although if u wanted u could hit a few wut im sayin is its a great bike its just not a motocross bike.

I agree u can pop a wheelie on any bike if u tried which doesn't even matter its a nice very well balanced trail bike.

It is a beginner bike for teens or smaller adults. I see where he's coming from though. Right after I got on our old one from riding a ttr125, it seemed like a bullet! But after I started riding 250's and got the hang of it, it really seemed like a pig. So it's not a ttr, but I would still put it in the beginner bike catergory.
