I don't think a worn out bike is good for anybody. But unless someone is racing semi-pro, I find it hard to believe an very well kept 2007 cr450 wouldn't have more than enough power and agility to exceed 99.99% of any riders ablility. Not many people have that kind of cash right now and even fewer are semi-pro. The dealers are seeing that first hand all over the country, unfortunately. My point is that you don't have to buy brand new to have fun w/your friends and family, just be smart.

pin_it: You have valid point, but I guess as a serious racer, my views are going to be different then the majority.
Brand new 09's can be had for around 4700-5200 this time of year, paying anymore would be foolish. Deals can be had on new bikes.
I do agree, for the majority of riders, they do not need the latest or greatest. But for a racer, having a new and tight bike can make a world of difference. This is something only a true racer would really realize anyways, and even their worn out bikes are still an excellent bike for 99% of folks.
You are right assuming the bike is freshened up before selling; unfortunately I see a lot of "ex-race bikes" that are sold very tired and worn out. So with used its still buyer beware.
As for a tight bike, still doesn't have to be new for that. Its cheaper to freshed up a 1-2 year old bike than buy new; plus the freshened up bike (if done right) may be better than a new bike.

so your saying my race bike is chit. man i thought DL would never put me down and he just did. jk jking DL makes a great point tho on freshing up a bike that is a year or 2 older it would still be cheaper. not in the 4-banger class but definatly in the 2 smoker.

...And thats the reason you are paying 3,000 for a used bike and not 5,000 for a new one. JMO
