R you sure you want a 4 stroke? cuase it sounds like an 85 2 stroke might suit you better. just my thoughts

Yes, like ML (Masterlink) asked, if we know your experience it would help. A TT-R125 would be the right size and would make a good first bike or trail bike. It would have enough power to take you about anywhere; but not enough to be intimidating.

i dont have much experience at all i rode an 80 suzuki wen i was way younger but not enough remember much..me and my husband are debating with the ttr125 and the crf 150 because we found both on craigs list and were ready to purchase one and they seem like good bikes to begin with..so between the two..the yamaha? and would it have enough power to be in the sand? with a different tire of course

Can you post the links? We can give you a second opinion on the 2 of them which might help out this decision.

Welcome to the Forums!
I think a 150 would be best. That gives you lots of room to grow into it was well. And it's a Honda, Honda's are best, no matter what anyone says
But That's my opinion. I think the 125 4 stroke you might find a power loss at it. Where the 150 would be better, and not much bigger then what your looking at.
Links would be nice as well, then like said we could lend a hand on the bike itself.

well crf we were gonna go look at his page expired..couldnt find it but we were gonna go look at it this weekend but my husband heard that some yamaha dealer really wants to get rid of some ttr for cheap i think its bran new so if ultimately the ttr is gonna be a better fit for me then we might go with the new ttr. just in general for a beginner which bike the ttr 125 or the crf 150?

The TTR is a beginner bike. If it's brand new, and good price, go for it. You'll be happy with anyone of them really.

They are both very mellow, the 150 is just a bit bigger for a bit bigger rider. They are both great beginner bikes depending on the rider size.

BTW, within a couple months of owning my old 125, I was looking for more power.

honestly i would suggest getting any brand 125... converting it to all top md to start out. then when you become more experienced switch to bottom and put a pipe on it.. even for a beginner you could handle a 125

hey d, My fiance started on teh TTR125le and it was a great bike to start out on, just like any bike its going to have its flaws but overall its a great bike to get used to riding on.
Here are some things to think about: If your going to get the TTR, get the LE with teh disk rear brake. Try to really think about how aggressive you are going to get on a dirt bike and take that into consideration, if you think your going to push yursef to ride hard, you will out grow that bike quickly. My fiance, after one year, out grew her bike and had to upgrade to a 125 2st which suite her much better for the time being. Reason I say this is because the suspension is very week and it can be a little tough through difficult terrain. The plus side of this bike for you is your hieght, it will suit very well in that department.
Plus side of this bike is it is VERY easy to ride, electic start!!!! thats a big one, the size is just right for you, and it will get you where you need to go
Down side: Suspension is very week no bead lock on the front wheel and it tend sto rip the valve stems the more aggressive you ride after a while you may wnat some more power and last, if your riding with your hubby, you will be limited to some terrain.
hope this helps.
