well its my 07 450sxf's 4th race.  well heres an update on my racing,  i came into this harescramble ready new boots clean bike.  I got a great start my best EVER past most of the guys on my line which consisted of heavy and lite B riders and some A riders.  Once in the woods i was comfortable i FINALLY feel comfortable in the tight stuff on my big bike. well i go to make a pass about a mile into the race i go around the rider and he stumbles i get pushed to the side of the track and get my boot cliped hard on a large log.  well a little further down my bike just quits,  i look down to see if my petcock was off well it wasnt there there was just fuel spilling every where.  i musta spanked it with the log or my boot.  lets just say my was to be best race of ended after 8 minutes of riding by a part i would have never thought of.  long story short i wandered for 20 minutes found an official he got some one to help me get out.  So i got towed by a quad out believe me being towed SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

I agree with courtney sry BRO, i feel bad that happen because it sounds like at the beginning you were doing great, but we all have days like taht once in a while. I looked up a hairscramble race video and thats crazy DUDE!!!! that looks so hard and it seems like its always really muddy and lots of deep puddles to fly over!!! I hope you do better next time man dont be mad its all learning experience.

I was thinking about running my bike on "reserve" for this weeks race in the event i run low on fuel, but your experience just changed my mind, since the reserve setting is with the petcock switch turned out.  I never thought about that before.  I plan to do the whole race with no pit stop, but the fuel situation will be iffy near the end maybe...thanks for sharing, and congrats on a great start!

Yeah i put a new tank on and put the petcock on like all my other bikes had it well i just relized they flipped em on the new bikes.  Well i ordered 2 replacement i might buy a stocker but its 80 DOLLARS =(.  But i found that they have guards for the petcock needless to say im putting one on.
as for the ktm.  I love everything about it,  Suspension it pretty good, in its own right,  front end is a little harsh but i adjusted the knobs a little and fixed it.  It turns great ONCE you get used to riding a euro bike. The power is crazy KTM 450s generally produce about 4-5 more horses than the competition and its really usable power.  Very easy to work on,  believe me its so easy,  i worked on my buddies kawi and my cousin honda and barenone my ktm is the easiest to workon.  Well what do you wanna know about the bike just ask.
Heres some gripes,  they run a little hot,  and parts can get pricey but in general they are not that much more.
one more thing i ride the sxf not have a kick is not a disadvantage people are afraid of not having the back up.  Dont be the bike fires pretty consistantly hot or cold.  I swap my battery ever 3-4 months just because i dont want it to fail during a race,  but the bats can prolly got for longer.

Yeah i was mad when it happened but i learned im always goin to carry a spare petcock lol.  And thanks for the support guys.  But yeah harescrambles are so fun.  The ones i run dont have much mud,  its worse they have deep sand and black dirt with mud at times.  but it gets so tight at times and ridin a bike bike doesnt make it easier.  and its ruthless,  the tracks dont get groomed it just gets nasty.  Plus there are times where its kinda freaky,  the course gets so whooped out in section and these are natural sand whoops,  to get through them good i have to be in 3rd not bad in the open but when trees are inches from you it gets tense.  o and i dont care what people sand is worse than mud lol.
