Actually Elk was watching HSN and they are offering a laptop with 7 installed!
Around 8 I think. With payments. Check out there sight.

Elk, 2day u can get plenty with 800-1000 actually mucho plenty!! 
I have WIN 7 running on my $400 Lenovo with a crappy 575 celeron and 4Gb.
My computer (desktop) crashed last night so I'm typing this on a new Toshiba laptop. I paid $349 plus tax. My desktop isn't that old so I'm going to buy a new hard drive and see if that's the problem.
Like ML said, there are some pretty good deals on laptops if you don't need to do high end gaming or video editing.

I recommend AVG 8.0. It's free..and never..ever have I had a virus using AVG the whole time I have had a computer/internet. Same goes for my Dad...who has been using a computer/internet the day they came out..lol. He's 45. :P
From what your looking at..it seems decent. Dual Core will allow you to do what ever you need in good timing. You never have to much RAM, the more, the faster. 320G HD is lots of space..seems good.
Like ML and Hair said, for that amount you can get good deals now a days. Things are getting cheaper and cheaper.

Yeah i agree smasher, i have avg 8.5 but it updates it for free everytine theres a new one, it works great!

Hmm...maybe that's the one I have. Lol. Idk, I don't keep track. I know I installed AVG 8.0..but it might have upgraded to 8.5 by now, who knows :P either way, it's still working brilliantly.

what do you guys think of this laptop? i like it because of the 16 inch screen, intel core 2 duo processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive. do you guys see any reason though why i should keep looking? or why it would be a bad laptop to get?

Looks good to me, already with the Win 7. I dont see a reason why not to buy it, but maybe someone else can see a catch?

Oh and Smasher if you read this thread again, i now have AVG version 9.0 lol. check your updates and click on update the whole time until it says-no new updates available.
