87 Suzuki sp200, The problem is that there is no key switch the last guy gutted everything that hinted at looking like dual sport to make a DIRTBIKE lol?(at least that is the story i got for the bike with no title...  it still has a head light though, which doesnt work and i dont know where any of the wiring goes, but i discovered when i removed the left leg sidecover it appears that this bike at one time had a battery and about 8 different wires stuffed in there were also at one time connected to something

My question is where can i find a diagram of the wiring on this bike or at least  would anyone out there be able to list the color coded wires and what they should be connected to....(at the key switch) and (in the battery compartent)

Also Its rediculously difficult to get this bike into first gear the shifter dont go down past neutral, and if it does it stays down.    The same as when you downshift through the gears you have to pull the shifter up then push down again, it doesnt come back up after you depress it...is there a spring inside or something?
Wait here let me try it first.....

You are going to need the service manual for this. It will have the wire diagrams and the color of all the wires in it.

Go to repairmanual.com, they have a manual for your bike. Its $67 but thats what you will need and well worth it. I always get the factory service manuals if I can.

Official 1987-1988 Suzuki DR200 and SP200 Factory Service Manual
This Official 1987-1988 Suzuki DR200 and SP200 Factory Service Manual provides service, repair and maintenance for Suzuki 1987-1988 DR200 & SP200 motorcycles. This is the same book used by authorized Suzuki dealers. A must for anyone who insists on OEM quality parts.

Man I am kinda in the same boat.  I got my stepsons 87 sp200 about 5 years after he passed away in a car wreck.  It sat in a barn at his house and collected dust and birds built a nest in the airbox etc etc.  I would not normally take on something like this but it has great sentimental value.  I semi cleaned it up to see if it ran and rode it for a few days off road to make sure it ran good.  It did but then I noticed that there were some drips in the bottom of the gas tank I thought, hmm I hope that that isnt gas eating its way through the paint of the tank.  Of course it was.  The tanks on these things are like $450 for new ones so I proceeded to cut the bottom out of the tank and try to clean it up.  Once I get done cleaning that up I will weld a new bottom into it.  It does have a battery in it.  I know where allot of the wires go but I am just starting to get into the turn signals now.  It didnt have a key and my stepson used it for off road riding so lights and speedo were taken out and sitting in a box.  Weird thing is that it runs fine without having the speedo hooked up but if you hook the speedo up it wont start because the ignition is in the off position.  I need to rebuild the master cylinder, get a new speedo cable, replace the oil drain screw and the plate that the screw goes into, get a new headlight- have the lens but not the bulb, same for the tail light and many other things that I cannot think of right now.  Is the wiring harness still on the bike or is it gone?  I can email you some pictures of some of the wiring if you would like.  But if there is no wiring harness then It probably wont help much.

the last page of the owners manual actually has a wiring diagram- color codes and all.  See if you can find one, or you might be able to look it up online somewhere.  I have to use a magnifying glass to read it but it is there.
