on the memorial ride would there be check points to gas up? because my brother doesn't have a dessert gas tank on his yz250 and he doesn't think he would make it all the way through and I have a red sticker on my bike does that mean that I can only do one loop because it says all red members go 1 loop

I'd make the Lucerne race, but it is the same weekend as EnduroCross. I frequent the Johnson Valley OHV area quite a bit every year.

The red numbers and black numbers aren't in relation to stickers...

When you sign up for your AMA numbers you sign up as a beginner or novice....beginners can only get red numbers on their bike meaning they can ONLY do one loop.  Novice riders can choose to have red or black numbers...red still restricted to one loop, black numbers do two....to move up into intermediate, expert, etc, you have to accrue points and they move you up in class....

I think the ama is around $35, the entry fee is $36. I think the dist fee is about the same.  This is only my 2nd scrambles so I am not too sure.

This would be a good desert race for you to get your feet wet on Alex.

your bike would do great.  Just run at your own pace and enjoy.

if you've never ridden a lot of desert, i really recommend doing only one lap....70 miles is a long way if you aren't used to it and the second lap is usually night and day to the first....where the first one might be long and fast paced, the second will be technical, slower, and much more challenging....

also, DON'T do this race with out a camelback (lots of water!), tool kit (with everything to fix a flat), and your ID with you.

Anyway, I don't think you have to be D37 member to participate....but you need the AMA competition membership...it's like 40 bucks....

It looks like the D-37 membership is required also.

I'm thinking about it, but not if I have to lay down $100.

I joined ama last year because I want to support them anyway,  they support us.  and I think if you call they may waive the dist fee and let you ride an a pie plate thingy , that is what I did last race.
