Finding the perfect chest protector is something that I have been having a little difficulty with. Whether it be to bulky, not the right color, too hot, buckles breaking, poor impact rating or comfortability, something always stands in the way. The Shift Racing Riot Chest Protector eliminated most of these issues when it introduced a light weight, durable, simplistic protector to their line. With lots of air flow and very light weight, it really seems as if its not even on, I quickly forget that I am wearing it unless I have my race collar on. The original goal when I purchased the Riot protector was to actually look at the Thor Sentinel, but after trying both on, the Shift protector felt better and looked better(IMO).  I have found this protector for as low as ($79.95) online but I did purchase mine at Chaparral motorsports for just over $105.00 including tax. That was the price I had to pay to ensure that I had a chance to try the chest protectors on instead of taking my chances ordering online. Overall, the Riot has great features, such as ultra lightweight feel, very breathable, durable, and a very slick and modern look to it. Although it eliminated a lot of my gripes, one area that it does lack is the protection. I know, the one area that counts the most but its enough to keep some road rash and rocks from caving in my chest and back. My first hand experience was having Jesse Z throw a boulder from his rear tire that almost knocked me out at the 24hr Glen Helen race, I think I told him and he chuckled. For days at the track and rides during hot days, this chest protector will more than fill your needs and still keep some money in your wallet.

You can also order the Riot in Black. It has white and black checker pattern on the front and it looks trick

Pics were taken after two people used this protector during the 24hr Glen helen endurance race, a little soap and water and it cleaned up great.

The Fox is the same as I have been using for a few years now too.  Works great against roost but can get hot on the back panel.

I too have owned adn still own the fox chest protector, but it loses in the bulk and weight department. I also have a thor quadrant and the RXR organic. I know it might seem like I spoil myself but I have been trying to find the right one and my friends always seem to need one. OUt of all of them, the shift has been the best al around. I imagine we all have our own needs and wants when looking though, just the reason for the post.

It may be bulky to you but the chest plate feels way to small to me.  And I got the biggest size they carry!

Thanks again for letting me wear it Mike

I have a hard time with regular protectors after a crash a few year back left me with a little bump on my chest at my sternum....regular protectors (like the fox airframe) push on that little bump and really irritate it...however, this one was comfortable, didn't hit that little spot and light weight...I really liked it.

I have a 2nd hand fox. As much as I don't like their boots I do like this thing.  I have landed on rocks and boulders. And have had the bike land on me more than once.  I can't tell I have it on, It is ugly and beat up but it works.

You must have seen him when it was paired with the pin stripper riding gear.
