Hey! I'm new to track too...I've only done it a couple times....my best advice it to just stay in your line...don't weave back and forth...that way the faster guys can pass you easy without running into you...
have fun!!!!

Besides what Courtney said, just ride at a level you are comfortable with. Riding over your head first time out can land you on your head
On the jumps, if rolling them (which is fine first time out) stay out of the main line off to the side a bit(you don't want some one to land on you).

Don't cross the jumps if/when rolling over them also. I hold my line when fast riders come up on me, if I'm on the inside line I stay there - they'll go around and be gone in seconds. I'm new to tracks as well, you're going to be addicted! What is your hometown track (the name of it)?

It is in Hays Kansas, not sure of the actual name..but we all call it the 1904 track because the owner of the track owns an apparel store called 1904..its like 15 bucks a day or 100 for a membership...little expensive but oh well..motocross is an expensive sport

I don't think you have to worry about someone getting angry at you unless you do something really inconsiderate. I rode an MX track for the first time early this year and even tho it was a mudhole, everyone managed to get around me just fine. Like Courtney and Lindsey said - just be consistent. Good luck and have fun!
