hi guys, i was wondering what you suggest for me, a 5'10" 200 lb guy for a bike. i know i want a honda and i want it to be a four stroke, but should i get a 250 or 450. i think i want to go ahead and get a 450 because of how big i am and because i like to have the most power possible. Alot of people have been telling me that i should get a 250 because i couldn't handle a 450, but after some rides on some friends 450's i am very confident that i can. Any suggestions?

what type of riding? full sx, sx-mx, enduro, desert? if its your first ride and its going to be brand new my suggestion is the crf450x (electric start, WARRANTY, controlable power) if moto only than the 250is a blast to ride. used to work at honda dealer so i've seen a few come and go. IF used is your thing 04-06 250's should be avoided like the bubonic plauge. dispite what hondas reliability record is i've replaced far to many cyl heads at painful prices to the customer ($1,500-$3,200 engine rebuilds) 450S are far more reliable unless you are a top 20 ama pro. hope this helps

I've got a 250r for 3 years now, and I'm planning on going to an 450, if you want something violent, chose the 450, because the 250 youll see it works hard an fine but if you're like me, you will want something more powerful when you will see that you're always reving near cutoff lmao I would recommand you the 450 definately if you say you can drive it you gonna have fun my friend!

250 2 strokes are fun and about as reliabe as any thing. in honda the 03 cr250 was the least impressive motors but great to achive consistant lap times. the comment i made about the 04-06 crf250 seems to be true (no offense to the owner of that bike) look into a SERVICE HONDA CR500AF. RELIABILITY, POWER, INSANITY! at least you'll have the best of all worlds

I ride some harescrambles right now but i don't want the 250 or 450 x models because i have heard that the engine is toned down a little and like i said i want all of the power i can get. i also ride trails alot where i have to go from a dead stop to a very steep incline and after trying(and wrecking) on my friends cr250, i decided to rule out two strokes because it didn't seem to have the lug i needed. I also plan to do some mx racing here soon when i get my license. My dad would not let me ride motocross untill i could drive myself to the track and i have recently gotten a place wre i can practice for free so i am working hard at getting better. Like i mentioned i have recently hit 200 lbs after two weeks of football two-a-days, and over the two weeks i have gained ten pounds because i ate like a horse. after your suggestions i am really looking at the 450 just because it is the biggest i can get.

LMAO!!! I would say 450 because your a bigger guy [plz take no offence]. I also think 450 so you dont have to upgrade it constatly because then you would be pissed buying pipes getting it jetted. ect... So i would say 450 because you are a bigger guy and it will whoop ace around the track as if your not even on the bike. LOL

The 450 is supposed to be a poor choice for harescrambles as per many of our experts here. Too much weight and torque. Just something to think about.
2 strokin till I die. Which I hope aint soon.
