YZ250 & Hinson Clutch basket

This thread is a continuation of some engine work on my 97 YZ250 I started it on another thread http://http://forums.dirtrider.com/70/7903859/general-discussion/spidey-the-race-is-on-hahhahhahhah-0/index.html
But decided to move here bcuz I'm going to ask KK for some input, cuz I'm kinda stumped
About a year ago, I decided to get a Hinson basket and new clutch plates for my 97. I had some issues with clutch plates breaking.

After i installed the ring gear and put the new basket into the bike I noticed that it didn't line up very well with the primary output gear (the gear connected to the crankshaft ).
But against my better judgement and seeing as my 4 stroke was in pieces on the work bench and I was jonesen 2 go riding I just left it that way and actually rode with it like that until now.
This is a picture from a Clymer manual showing the alignment of the gears and pointing to which way the bevel of the gear should face and the basket. Notice how the bevel faces in. Towards the other gear.

In order 2 get my basket to line up with the primary gear I need to have the bevel face the opposite way.

But still as u c here even with the gear flipped the other way the gears still don't line up perfectly and the outer gear hits the basket.
behind the basket and under the inner hub is two washers, both r a different thickness.

After doing some checking it looks as though even with the gear flipped, it should'nt have any bad effects on the governor or the water pump drive sprocket.

what i did was had my GF's brother machine me a washer .060 thinner than the one that sits behind the basket and against the transmission bearing.

this will allow the gears to match a little bit better, but i'm still not alll that happy about it.
what I gained is .060 and i left .020 play in between the outer gear and the basket, bcuz who knows how close they will get under full throttle with general wear and tear.

.020 with a feeler gauge.

After I torqued the hub nut and locked down the washer, I checked the clutch lever play. With the smaller washer in place I had to adjust the cable bcuz it was now way off.

Here is a pic of a cool trick to use pennies to bind the gears so that u can tighten the outer pressure plate bolts.
