Hi, i own a 2007 450sxf and during a topend rebuild iv found the intake cam journal damaged.
The cam is wearing down into the alloy, possibly caused by lack of lubricant or heat, iv run motul7100 full synthetic since new, changed every 5hrs, and its never really got the chance to overheat.
Iv heard this is common and the 07 heads oil galleries are too small. it kind of makes me wonder because the exhaust cam is perfect and its oil supply hole is twice the size.....
If the rumours are true maybe i need to purchase a later model cylinder head

Id put up a pic of it but i cant it to work,

hi gray, welcome to the forum.  I don't know how to help you on this one, but someone should be along who might...

well the romours are true But its on 07-09.  I talked to the guy who does work on my bike about it.  When was the last time you adjusted your valves????  What he said it happens when guys go too long between adjusts.  I dont remeber exactly how he said it happens but the valves can get closer then further apart and when that happens the cam chain literally forces the cam to damage the head.  ANd guys can get the galleries drilled out.  So before u spend a couple hundred on an 08 head take it to a knowledge guy and maybe have the galleries drilled out.
