I just got my 99 yz fired up for the first time since I bought it and theres a lot of oil burning and its throwing alot of oil out the exaust right there at the head.  it looks like tranny oil not 2 stroke oil.I had to kick and kick to get it started but thats when I first noticed alot of oil, then when it finnaly fired it smoked very badly and put alot of oil all over the head. The head pipe isnt the right one and its very loose there and leaking very badly, oil and exaust. I think its for a 250 yz and mine is a 125.Im in the process of getting the right head pipe and o rings to seal it but im worried about the amount of oil. (tranny oil at that im guessing). I havent put coolant in it yet so I dont know if its leaking that to. What would cause a 2 stroke to do this???????? when I get the right head pipe and seal it of right will it hold pressure or something and keep the oil in?

I searched and read that oil is common on the 2 strokes but Im pretty shure my oil is tranny oil. And as much as is coming out of mine I dont think its right lol. Any ideas anyone? I have another thread to thinking and asking if maybe it could be the cylinder gasket?

I bought a 2001 yz 125 and when I started it up, it smoked really badly and it was spitting oil too . Then oil would start to leak out of the silencer all over the rear of my bike . I pulled off the silencer and realized that there was barely any packing left. I bought oneal silencer packing for about $12, then I pulled off the fuel hose from the carbuerator and drained all of the gas out and put in a fresh gas/oil mixture and the bike ran awesome. No more spewing oil. I would also replace the spark plug because the insulator is probably pretty bad (cheap fix). Good luck and good riding!!!

i agree fresh gas and a fresh silencer repack is in store. i know the bike will sound better, be quieter and actually have more power with a fresh repack.

Make sure the pipe to head connection is tight and to factory specs.
Do not run the bike with leaks at the head..too much exhaust gas temperature change close to the exhaust port will burn up your piston.

If the previous owner used crappy oil and too much of it you will get build up in the exhaust.

The new gas sux and has a very short shelf life. Check your exhaust, put fresh gas and good oil and let er rip.
