I have a 2001 CR 250 with a FMF GNARLY pipe.

We ride at gordon's well, glamis, and supersttion.

When riding, there is a yamaha 250 that only uses a half tank and I use a complete tank for the same ride time.

I want to know what jets, adjustments, filter to run to make it not use so much gas.

Also, someone mentioned something about the float level. Any info will help

Nice, saw superstition and thought you lived in az.

dialing in your jetting is going to be key to saving some gas and definately check you float.

Zooks are common for running out of gas quickly, at least from my experience.

I know that, I was just stating that I know zooks that I have been around run out of gas before I do even if Im running harder than they are. Dont know about the CR's too much but like I said try to work on some different jetting specs starting from stock.

My 2001 cr got pretty good mileage on the long rides at Cal City.  as far as I know the jets are stock.  Where in San Diego do you live. i was in NOrth County from 83 till 07, noe in Temecula.

I do have to run the needle at the highest clip, or lowest position.
What is the plug looking like and how is it riding?

do you have the numbers for the Honda jets?  I am trying to dial in this new bike and it's running a bit rich.  It's a 2000 Honda CR250.  Thanks for the advice!

It was just rebuilt so I imagine it is stock.  I still have to drop the needle to the last position.  I will look up the numbers.

i got a 01 cr 250 as well, i noticed its a gas hog as well, but for dunes riding, i wouldn't dream of leaning out mine(never fouled a plug either), strongest running 250, iv ever owned.  there are 2 things that come to mind.  1 yamahaha might have a bigger tank, and 2 the cr cranks out way more power, even if it uses more gas. if your really concerned about mpg, check out crf 450. but you will still want to keep the 01,because it is just to killer of a bike for dunes! anyway thats just my opinion.
