24x-003349
i need to figure out what year it is so i can get a new piston.

If that is the VIN# in the steering head, then it could be even before the 80's. all models have 17 digit vin#'s from about 1980, and so it can be identified from that vin#.

And your's idnt a 17 digit vin, so my guess is it's a way earlier model.

Is this bike a 125? If it is I believe it may be a 1983. Check out this site and look under the serial numbers to find 24X- it shows it to be a 83'.Yami YZ models

About the 17 digit vin's not all countries conformed to that when it was started in 80' (I believe) and took a few years to become the standard, so some mid 80's will have vin's like these. Hope the site helps!

What color is the plastic? Is the tank steel? Dose it say what model it is?
Look on the side of the motor for the engine size, cm or cc. And see if you can find a engine #.
