Over the summer i bought a 2001 rm 80 bored out to an 85. I changed the piston, ring and berrings. The bike started right away, a couple more rides later the engine locked up. I took it home added more fluids, then it sat for an hour and kicked on again. At first i couldnt change gears, but after 10 15 mins gears freed up good riding. I ran out of gas and ever scence then it wont start. I opened the top end up again, piston and ring are fine, reed valve is fine the plug is a little fouled up but theres still a spark. My knowledge is bout maxed out. I was thinking mayb the carb but b4 i thake the bike to a pro ,i wanted 2 see if any1 had a good suggestion. if any1 can help that would be super dont wana spend 2 much money.

Just firstly try a new spark plug, like you siad, it gets spark, but that may not be enough, and you say it looks slightly fouled. and another thing did you break the engine in properly? and also warm it up properly?

Oh ok i can give you my warm up process. but i'm not 100% sure what the problem could be.
Ok since it's a 2 stroke it can cold seize easily, aswell as seize when too hot. Anyway first start your bike with the choke on and let idle for about 30 seconds..not too long though. then switch the choke off, and very lightly blip the throttle for 3 or 4 times, then let it idle for about 2 minutes then start blipping the throttle again, but this time a little more, then give it more throttle as it gets warmer until the throttle response feels crisp. Now (I'm) not usually done warming up, i first ride around slowly before really going into powerband, until it feels really crisp and not struggling to go into powerband.
That may help you in the future, i hope... I say, try a new spark plug, the reason being a spark plug can easily foul when running outa gas, if that's not the problem, then we will be looking at the carb/piston/cylinder.
Idk whats the right spark plug for your bike, if you dont know, i hope someone will be able to tell you.
Oh and welcome to the board

like force said best thing to do would be to get e new plug. if the plug dont work clean the carb and i bet she'll fire right up. if it still doesnt crank i would check the compression and then go from there
