I recently bought a 98 kx250 two stroke for 700 dollars. It's said to have been bored out(I don't know how much), have new brakes and plastics. the guy also threw in 2 nice kbc helmets and a pair of boots. other than a minor gas leak that i fixed it runs great. worth the price??? also, any estimates on hp it's putting out now?

42hp at the wheel in new condition, also depends it's last rebuild. I'd say it sounds like a sweet deal! Do you like riding it? Thats what really matters.

The first time I hoped on my bike I felt the sameway lol. Does your bike have any other mods done to it?

other than a seriously failed attempt to paint it black by the previous owner, none. but once i replace the throttle with something less sensitive(seriously, it only takes the twitch of your hand to goose it) and i get more accustomed to it, i'm thinking of jetting the carb... maybe

also, my front shocks(forks right?) are sticking halfway down, a little more force gets it past theat point and it's fine, but i'm still a little worried about it. any idea whats wrong?

so i just found a deep, albeit thin, gash going from the middle of my rear tire to the outside. and a medium dent in my front rim, like i hits something reeaally hard. i was wondering if that gash might pinch the tube or if i could roll that front tire off at the dent? (also, thanks for puttin up with all my questions patrick)

Motion Pro (among others ) makes variable rate throttle kits, but I haven't found one listed for a 1998 KX-250. You might want to give them a call. They may have one that will work. Motion Pro Adj Throttle
I also put this on your other post as well.

Welcome to the board AC.
I loved the '98 KX250! One of my best friends had one and I spent a lot of time riding it. That bike is all low end power. I felt it made it a lot easier to ride.
Stock rims back then were not as strong and would dent more easily. How big and the location of your dent will determine if it will affect your tire and if you should be worried about the rim cracking.
Any gash in a tire is not good. If it is deep you may want to look into replacing it soon. Hard to believe but you can find great used tires for much cheaper that racers sell off long before they are too worn out for standard play riding.
When you say you have a sticky fork I wonder if you are talking about a mid stroke harshness. That is a valving and set up problem. Or worse your forks could have leaked out all of the fork oil from their leaky seals. Getting them serviced would be a good investment.

thanks for the tips, the dents about an inch and a half long, and maybe a quarter to a half inch deep(towards the center). and thanks for the info on the used tires, it would seriously suck to end up blowin one do thirty
