Heres some pics my mom got.  not many action shots just me at the pit and start mainly.

This is right before the race,  i look wierd because im hoppin around tryin to get loose and i was captured kinda blurry

just warmin the bike up in the parking lot (corn field)

me just chillin on the line

Im waiting for the flag to drop,  im the 3 rider from the left pretty much dead center

This is me pitting,  My sister is holding the sign and meat was my football nick name in high school

at the pit again,  i swapped my goggles for saftey glasses here

this is my fave pic it means alot to me also this is me takin the checkered flag what a huge personal victory

this is at the finish line, Big sigh of relief from me.  The guy on the right is my old man and the big guy on the left is my buddy tom i met during this race last year he races alot of the local races with me we live pretty close together.  He raced this race but blew his knee out on one of the large hills 7 miles in.

heres a good pic of my faithful ktm 450 sxf,  The race was very muddy and nasty as u can tell from my bike.  Also u cant see but i lost my air box cover and rode with an open air box for a lap im so lucky the filter held back all the water.

what a race guys,  it went pretty good for the exception of almost goin down a large hill infront of my family or when i went over the bars.  The course was great just what ive been waiting for.  Tons of huge hills we went up and down on, and alot of water crossings in fact we road through the creek for a couple hundred yards at one point...  Well there was a few mess ups about 200 riders got lost on lap one, one of them being me. the markers just wernt there and we had no clue where to go we wound up accidentaly jumping to a seperate part of the track yes i think we were penalized...   One thing i can say was i wasnt aggressive enough.  I would stop and let other riders get through or id go in a line where a rider would fall in my line and i would wait,  if i was a little more agressive i bet i could shave 15 minutes easly on every lap.

One of the scariest things was when i was climbing one of the huge hills,  i take a line on the center of the hill that wasnt traveled much but there was a guy on when i hit the pinnicle point of the hill the rider in front me just stops.  I manage to stay up but im off the bike and he finaly gets out,  i wound up walkin my bike to the top but when he stop and my front end came up when i wanted to keep goin it just kinda freaked me out.

Also on my last lap i went over the bars and rung my bell bad.  There was it water crossing it wasnt the crossing that was bad it was the ruts on the other side so i find another line.  thing is i have to drop off a 4 foot ledge into the creek.  Well im goin maybe 20-25 and blip the throttle off the ledge perfect take off land with my front end like 6 inchs higher than the rear perfect except i didnt anticipate how deep the mud was on the rear or if the big rock were really there in the front yes my front end got caught on some decent sized rocks and yes the mud that i went through to get around the rocks was over the pegs deep.  I went over the bars and got a bath,  granted it felt nice to get soaked but when i stood up i couldnt walk a straight line and scared some spectators and some one pickd my bike up and helped me ge ton my way.

it was so fun i can talk about it for ever,  ANd it was the first race where my bikes full potential as an off roader could be used.  When other guys were stuck in ruts i would power through with im bikes.  That was the story of the whole race riders stuck and me just pushin through.  O idk what i woulda done with out my 450.  The ruts got so bad im talkin any where from 5 inches - 30 inches yes above my pegs even deeper than you could ever emagine

great write up.  I like the way you posted the pics first, then told the story.  Way to get up from the crashes and keep going.  How long was the race, what place did you finish, not that it matters?

Oh man! I miss that race! It looks just as tacky and wonderful as I remember. Good job with the pics and write up, Meat.

Probably the best nickname I've heard in a while, too.
