im thinking about buying a bike i found but need some help......this guy has an 01 ktm 520sx thats not running and i have no idea about 4 strokes....he said that last time it was running it was idleing high like the choke was on and died and wont start back and he dont have the time or money to fix it...he said it has good compression spark and gas is what he said i know it should run then...what could this be and could it be a simple fix thanks for all the help

well how much are you gonna pay to buy the bike???? True when the choke is on the biek idles high. if the choke was on the 520 would start i have a 2000 520sx and road with the choke on and it still would start. What about fluids were the fluids at there correct levels when it was started last??? I know bike idle high with little to no oil or rad fluid, and that is known to make bikes die. And that can be big bucks..... Other than the risk of gettin a destroyed bike the 520 is a very good bike. True the new bikes are eons better but the 520 has great power and decent suspension when u get it fixed ull love it....

How long has the bike been sitting?
If the oil and the antifreeze is ok. It most likely needs a carb rebuild.
Ask the guy when he rode it last and how long it has been since it started.
And how much does he want for it?

well im just thinking about the bike here but how tall are you and how much do you wheigh? but it sounds good like it has a title and well known company so i think you could get parts and get it to run. also are you a begginer? and what areyou going to use it for?

well i tlked to the guy and he said he was trail riding and it started ideling high drove to the truck and wouldnt start back....he rebuilt the carb and put in a new plug and still wont run....and im 5 10 and about 150 i have a yz now but with this i would just fix it and sell it i like tinkering with stuff but know nothing about 4 strokes but i think he wants to much for me to get it he said the lowest he would take is 1400
