Ok so i have a 2003 rm 100. That is the only year that this bike was made. It is my first two stroke and could definalty need a few things. Plastics and graphics are a must. I could use a new pipe set it is all stock exept for the pro taper handle bars on it.I only trail ride but i want to start racing a little, just not very competively. I think it would be cool to throw a smaller bike into the mix. I am a big kid for my height 160 and 5'5. So i could use some beafier suspension. And some new sprockets for a lil more bottom end as well.

We also have my dads 2004 ttr 225. It is the heaviest bike ever. He is a big guy like me and only 5'7 ish. So that is why he has this low seat height. He doesnt want to just give up on this bike unlike me and sell it and get something else. But it could definatly use some better suspension. It will only idle with the choke all the way on right now. we have rebuilt the carb once and we were thinkin about just puttin a brand new one in. The plastics are all cracked. Stock everything exept grips and handguard.

How about a 1991 RM125, from the UK.
- Needs a new expansion pipe. - Rightside crankcase seal has gone. - Has the wrong CDI, and stator plate etc... - Clutch plates are a bit sticky. - The crankcase drain has been stripped of most of its threads, and has a slight crack (fixed with JB weld)! - Suspension is old, and feels knackered. - And probably could do with the follow, tyres, steering head bearings, new sprockets, and just a general complete going over!
Now just think Pete how cool it would be to have a bike from the UK to fix!! I would really like you to restore the bike to full 100% working order. I would really like to start racing, so make it race ready would be nice!
Mull it over...

first and foremost the guy serving his country should be considered BIG TIME,somebody gave me a 1991 kx250 i was gonna see what i could to it over the winter while snowed in,the gracious people on the boards said it wouldnt be a performance bike,i said i was just looking for a spare bike and a bike thats cheaper to maintain, the issues the bike has the engine was worn out but the last time i started it coolant poured out of the exhaust side of the head, the rear shock doesnt work only super spring action, the front end could probably use some t l c also, aside from being old the bike looks relativly decent weathered the years better than me,good luck pickin and chosen PETE.

I'd love to see my 1978 MX 175 done . Off the top of my head the things I'd say it needs are springs for the forks and maybe other suspension mods cause I'm 300 pounds and it definately is not set up for me lol Also my handlebars are a bit tweaked and I tried straightening them but they still aren't quite right. The clutch is getting worn out and needs some work .I've been toying with the idea of putting a 1980 yz 125 swingarm and shock on it to match the 1980 yz 125 forks , currently I just modified the steel stock swingarm to raise the rear up. The seat needs to be recovered. I need new footpegs....one is bent and the other is one that I made myself and the rear footpegs are also home made. I wanted to lower the footpegs a few inches because the frame is so squashed and tiny but then I would also need to lower the skid plate as well so the footpegs don't grab things I drive over. Also if I switch to a YZ aluminum swingarm I want to convert to a 19" aluminum rear wheel because the bike has an 18" steel wheel on it now and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get a new 18" tire....the tire needs to be changed pretty bad. Need to make a new mount for the airbox because the plastic broke on one side and is only being held by 1 bolt. Need new O-ring chain and sprocks very soon , I'd like to get a blue chain for it. I'd like to get those new levers that can bend in any direction and are supposed to be "unbreakable". Need new better quality handgrips cause the ones I have now have holes and aren't very comfortable on the hands . And finally I need new fork boots because the ones that came with those forks were finished and the new ones actually just came in 2 days ago so that will be my first project this winter. These are all projects I wanted to slowly work on over the winter. The wheel and shock and swingarm I was going to get used off of Ebay and maybe even used tires but the rest I was just going to buy 1 thing at a time .

I've got 1984 xr 200r it needs quit a bit of work. needs new plastic, the suspension needs work front and back are pretty worn out, new clutch plates, most likely a new top end. needs to be gone over. I ride mostly tight trails and enduros. I think this would be a good challenge to see if you can make it more trail worthy and maybe faster. It was a great bike in its day, see if you can make it that way again.

Well I'll throw my 2006 KX450F into the mix! This bike was pretty sound until I crash it over Labor Day weekend. I live in Colorado so giving it up for the winter is no problem considering the amount of snow we already got. I ride mostly mountain terrain with this bike and a track or two here and there. Going to start doing a hare scramble series with it as soon as I can get it up and running again.
Engine- I am not sure how many hours I have put on the bike since I bought it last year or how many were on it before I bought it, so a meter would be nice. I have checked the valves once and they were just getting to the tight side but just barely in specs. I am sure it could used freshened up. I believe the motor was ported and/or polished (done by Heads Up port and polish)but am not certain about that. New cams, chain, valves, piston and rings would be nice but does it need it, I am not sure the motor has plenty of power for me but it does have lots of hours on it. Never have a problem starting this bike what so ever even after a crash or a stall.
What I know the motor need is a full exhaust. In my crash I bent up the header and pinched a small hole in it. The muffler is stock and LOUD. I put a Pro-moto Billet spark arrester end cap on it to make it somewhat legal in the mountains. This the bike desperately needs.
Suspension-The suspension is custom from RDP (race day preparation here in Denver) and I love it. To me it’s the best feel I’ve gotten from any bike I’ve rode. What does it need? I blew a fork seal in the crash so they need replacing and I bet the fluid is due to be changed in the forks and shock.
Plastics and controls- The plastics are due to be replaced. My clutch perch is broke and I am tired of replacing levers so I think some unbreakable levers are top on my list to do to my bike. Throttle cable is damaged so the throttle hangs up in the RPM’s and my front break line is bent where is meets the reservoir. Other things like the rear chain guide is shot and rubes the rear sprocket. There is a slight crack in the rear disk brake, YIKES! Let me not forget my seat. The foam it toast and after a long day of riding you feel it. The cover touches the seat pan in areas. I stand 6’2’ and have been considering a tall seat foam? I think I could use some taller risers or bars to make it more comfortable when I stand?
Like I’ve said I mainly ride in the mountains and want this bike to be more friendly in that situation. The power of this bike is incredible, a slight touch of the throttle and it jerks you. I would like to smooth that out, maybe that pro-motion throttle kit that was in your Nov. issue could help. I also have a problem with stalling at time in tight sections or on some hills, mainly going down them so I have considered an auto clutch to see if that would help unless there is something else that could be done? A skid plate and hand guards would be nice. Maybe radiator braces? I do have a slightly damaged and bent left side radiator.
There might be more it could use but that is the majority of it. I hope it’s not too much of a basket case to be considered? Even some of these things would be awesome to have done. I know most would tell me to just get a 250 2stroke to ride in the hills but I love my bike and want it to work everywhere not just the track where I ride the least at. If chosen I guarantee I can do some great write ups on the changes.

My bike doesn't need anything of real importance.
Front and rear rim both have bad dents in them. Rear brake rotor is on it's thinnest limit. Front wheel bearings are still working alright, but not completely smooth. New seals for many of the suspension bearings. Radiator has alot of damaged fins. New chain guide. I think rear break system needs to be rebuilt, it wears brake pads uneven, no matter where or how much i grease. New kickstarter. (These are all things that arent actually a big problem)
Engine is in great condition as far as i know, well that is how it feels Suspension has recently been freshened up and is great.
Then, a few wants but not needs
FMF powercore 2 Vforce Reed Valves 3 Full set of of triple clamps(mine has only some upper part that isnt stock )

And don't start with "I don't know what I'd do to make it better?" We know that, that is the way every one of us feels when we consider the wallet we have to pull ot to make a bike better. It is a balancing act.
And I love the super-old custom stuff, but really, we'd have as hard a time as you did to try and find cool stuff that fits.
And one final note, if you thrashed it, don't even try. We have learned from experirnce that trying to unthrash a bike is more expensive that just paying the extra cash up front for a bike in better condition. Plus working on bikes like that is not a rewarding experience.
Think of the story more like the Next Top Supermodel, not The Biggest Loser. We're not miracle workers!
