buffalo range was the sh*t,these others are wanabees, lowest to highest rocky glen gets a 3, bong gets a 4,fox valley get a 5,the cliffs gets a 5,and the badlands gets a 8,i definatly got spoiled with buffalo i now wish i never wouldve ridden there(fox valley has good terrain but its small)(the cliffs are good if it hasnt rained in a couple weeks-and watch out for the trucks and jeeps)

Thanks spaz. Its good to know that rocky glen was your least favorite. Its the only one i've been to on your list and I didn't like it too much.

i have been to rocky glen and bong...last time i was at bong it was just trails...no jumps. rocky glen has jumps. its kinda hard for me to be picky where to ride. rocky glen is only about 1hr20min from my place...everything else is at least double the distance unless i missed something. im in fox lake il. driving far is not bad if you make a day of it but for some quick hrs on some dirt i cant complain about rocky glen. i belive they are having a hare scramble this weekend...i think im gona check it out

thers no trail direction ,kids spin tires and race through the parking lot(CAN YOU SAY PAINT JOB?)the staff is no help.kids ridin double the driver is trying to control a machine that a man has to muscle, gym shoes, fishing boots or boots that are so low the ankle would snap regardless, the passenger has no helmet.sorry but that place is nothing but poor white trash, and until it changes ive deemed it completly unsafe for my son and i!!!!!!!!!!!also being a parent i would be scarred for a long time to come if i saw a kid get hurt because of neglegence.theres been collision deaths and other stupid accidents that could be avoided,by common sense and just plain courtesy

I noticed that there was no direction to all the side trails. Kinda scary when you think about it. Coming around one of them tight corners in the wooded area only to find another bike coming right at ya.

i know the trails are lacking in direction but i think the main mx track the island is fine. im not sure what it was...but i was just there on Monday and i rode the island track all day. a little muddy but it was a good time. the guy that was working both times i went was cool and very willing to help. both times i have went their have been people working on the trails and track the whole time i was there so they are trying to improve their facility. i have heard from more people than on this board that Rocky Glen is a "bad" place... i for one have not had a problem and have been having a good time riding there. im thankfull and happy i have a place to ride with a track that has jumps that is kinda close to my house even though it might not be the Best place out there it is still a good time. i believe they are hosting a hare scramble this weekend if you didnt catch that earlier in my post...might want to give it a second shot. i know i will be riding there again. but thats just me lol

im sayin i dont care for anything that place has to offer me.if you like it and its close to home thats great, this is getting old but when i got back into riding my buddy and i found buffalo range riding park, this place had everything a two and a half mile moto expert track,a very tight and twisty intermediate track,a very impressive sand track that had a huge climb and a drop off,a kids track and last but nowhere the least, the trails sand, dirt, gravel really tight a nasty, brutal climbs streams with beautiful waterfalls, sandstone throughout, plus the deer and turkey population.i grew up in the city so when i hit this place it was a jackpot in every way,a complete mini getaway and im still not doing this place justice, but all good things do come to an end.i was spoiled i was givin to much(nothin-compares

Do these parks allow 2 strokes? I have a YZ 250 w/ stock exhaust and I am concerned about possible noise restrictions. Also which parks are best for kids that are new to the sport?  I have a 9 year old son who like to putt around on a little Honda 50.

Thanks

They all allow 2 strokes. They make mention that they could test the decibal level if your bike sounds too loud but with the stock exhaust you'd be fine.

Thanks for the information. That's a huge load off my mind. I rode both 4 strokes and 2 strokes back in the 80's with my last bike being a CR125. I found the 2 strokes to be so much more fun to ride than the 4's that it never entered my mind to get a 4 stroke when my son expressed an interest in riding. So I went out and got myself a 2009 YZ250 not even thinking there might be an issue riding it at the various parks. I know 4 strokes are all the rage these days, but I have no interest in riding them having experienced both. I was surprised and alarmed to see that Yamaha is the only company manufacturing them these days. What a travesty.

One other question: Has anyone riden at Atkinson Motor Sports Park (Gob Hill) in Atkinson IL?

Thanks again
