Well Ive decided to get a 125 over the 250. Iam looking at the kx 125, ktm 125, cr 125, yz 125, rm125. My main question is what is the difference, if any? Also is there power differences?

Great choice! four strokes suck! Ill help you out from what I know and what iv riden and my experinces.
1. KTM 125 SX: Since its your first 125 2 stroke dont get one! There super pricey to buy. They dont make any of there own parts everything is aftermarket. The pistons are vortex the rims and hubs are talons. did i mention there super pricey to fix and find parts?
2.Suzuki rm 125: Suzukis have latly looked jsut about the best with all there snappy curves but the do have a problem. They turn on a dime much better than any bike. BUUUUTTTTT there engines suck and are not to powerful there just decent. They blow head gaskets like crazy and loose colant and break super easy so stay away unless you want a pricey pritty delicate bike.
3. Kawasaki kx 125: these bikes are very mediocre good bottom good mid good top they do everything very mediocre. there decent but theres not faults and no crazy benifits other tahn if you like green.
4. Yamaha yz 125: Yzs have always been behind when it comes to looks and frame. the one good thing about them is they are race ready out of the box. they also have great backing at dealerships like if something breaks and you go back they are happy to take care of you. there moters have good bottom ok mid and a good top end. there very user friendly.
5. Honda Cr 125: This is my personal favorite but ill stay unbiased and give you my experince. Out of the box they look super sexy better than any other bike. They have a great suspension and turn almoast as good or better than a rm 125. They have decent moters nothing to scream about but its because they have jetting that is super rich and a small air box. with a little bit of cash it can be much faster than any of the other bikes. these things need more air so you have to buy parts for the intake and open up the air box. put 40 bucks into it and youll have a screamer. lastly you cant beat honda realiability!!! i went 63 hours on one piston!!! and i womp on my cr.
In conclusion i would choose between yamaha and honda. If you could put a stock yz moter into a stock cr you would have the best bike ever.there bother very user friendly and easy to learn on. also there stock pipes are great!! most aftermarkjet pipes are only a tad better.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Alright, well ive narrowed it down to a cr 125 or a yz. When did they stop making the crs? Also do the 2 have similar gearing?

They stoped making crs in 2007 but theres only minor changes like between 02-07 the only difrences are 04 had a electronic power valve and 05 up had a bigger intake boot but all the parts are bassicly interchangable. the crs i know are set up for more top end at 13 52 and i think the yzs are more bottom mine was 13 53 so pritty close.

YZ 125 all the way, but my opinion is biased.
They are reliable, fast, and easy to work on though. You wouldnt regret that choice.

I'm sorry, but that was some of the most bias info I have heard, not to mention fairly inaccurate.
Looks really do not matter, because point being, they do not affect how a bike performs. Half of your info was your personal opinion on how the bikes look...

You are not the only one who has been around bikes...you obviously don't know much regardless.
Bombardier is Canadian, KTM is Austrian...good try.
GO back to my 4 stroke?? I have a 06 YZ125, 06 YZ250 and 09 YZ250F...my 250F is for sale.
Check your sources kid.

Unless Bombardier has move to Austria and bought KTM it looks like they make there own engines.
Yes Bombardier is associated with Rotax engines but not the KTM engines.
I personally would opt for a YZ or KTM. The RM does lack torque but if ridden by a skilled rider can go fast. The CR is anemic at best, yes it does handle well but that is it. I don't know about the KX.

Uhh, ok...
To the original poster, Mark summed it up nicely. The YZ has a great all around motor, probably the most bottom end for a 125 while still having a great mid and top end. The KTM is fast because it loves to rev, they will pull forever. The RM, like Mark stated lacks torque. Under a load they do not pull well and in soft conditions the bike lacked pulling power for pulling the next gears.
KX is good on the bottom end and the CR is just lacking everywhere.
