some kids with severe ADHD  smoke and it calms them down and they can focus on one thing instead of the 50 things flying around in their heads

as for me smoking and skiing .. although fun
i just dont ski as good as i do sober and i am striving to get better so i dont use when im going to participate in any sport or drive any vehicle

its better to own nothing worldly and still have your identity
then have the world and no identity

Timmy, I'm not making a judgment of whether it is right or wrong to sit around and do something.  But when you take anything that alters your abilities and then try to perform a task such as driving or riding you are putting others at risk as well as yourself.
Due to the fact that your perception is altered you cannot make a real determination of what the affects are.
Likewise, because of physiological and psychological reasons an intoxicating drug can react differently in the same individual from day to day.

self preception is the key here
you may think that you are riding better but most likely you are not

You're right quazy...but it's not a good thing.  People with ADD who aren't on medication for it tend to self medicate with booze and dope.  But it does not have the positive results that ADD medication does.

As far a getting baked and jumpin on a high powered donorcycle (my doctors term for motorcycle)its stupid.. plain and simple, stupid. tha same applies to alcohol and other drugs

But there were other things brought up in this thread that deserve some discussion.
yes ADHD and other "disorders" for lack of a better term are sometimes treated with much stronger and just as illegal (without a prescription) drugs.. One commonly used ADHD drug called ADDERAL is available in generic form as "amphetamine" maybe its just me.. "SPEED" would seem to be a much harder drug than "weed" in my mind. Several alarming statistics keep jumping into my mind.. Autism and ADHD diagnosed children are increasing at an alarming rate..WHY???

You think this thread could be more damaging than a "mom" joke?

weed or no weed that is the question,i can see that both sides are passionate about there cause.but truth be told no matter what short term good effects come from smoking dope(its named that cause long term thats what you turn into)the long term effects can actually be devastating to the brain, see for yourself look up st.alexius behavioral health and dr.gregory teas,he is at the utmost forefront for neurological effects on longterm exposure to substance use and abuse(fine line between them)something about building tolerance(duh!)check it out before you write a script for another person on the thread.

Ok guys I'm an American expate living in Ireland now and dirt bikes have become my life. In  Northern California where I grew up big wave surfing was my obsession since I was 14 and I did it (stoned a lot of the time) for 14 years straight. As a musician as well I fell in the trap of needing weed to perform and this crossed over into surfing and riding as well. I know what it's like to feel that it can put you in the "zone" but in the long run your reflexes will be slowed and you will have a big crash I guarantee you. I started out trying to ride high thinking that it helped me to flo and all that *** till I hit a big jump wrong and landed hard on my ass from about 10 feet in the air. Luckily I was fine but that was the last time I smoked that ***. I am now off of it nearly 2 years and I feel great and ride better than I ever have - IF YOU WANT AN EDGE GO AND TRAIN HARD - THAT IS WHAT MAKES YOU RIDE BETTER. WEED IS THE LAZY WAY OUT JUST MAKES YOU A WASTER AND ROTS YOUR BRAIN - I SMOKED IT FOR 15 YEARS AND I KNOW. Remember that we can justify anything but the truth remains unchangeable. But some people will only learn the hard way - I know cuz I'm one of 'em
