Like the newbie I am, I overtightened and broke the oil pan drain, half the threads broke off, is there anyway to fix it without having to buy a new motor? maybe weld or some kind of putty or something? Any help would be appreciated thanks.  here's a pic if it helps at all. BTW its a 2001 rm 80 if that matters.

You can have the peace welded, drill the hole and put a helecoil in it or you can fill the whole thing with Devcon then drill and tap it. Its a pain but it will work.

You dont weld this the normal way. Dont let the average garage guy do this.
You can weld anything you just have to find a welder that knows what he is doing.
Tell him what kind of meteral it is and you will know what im talking about.

well they do make a threaded sleeve that works very good. welding on pot alum. isnt the best idea.  epoxy or j.b weld wont do a very good job . probly find insert kit at fastener supply co. but let your fingers do the walkin. "yellow book"

you can retap it the hole with larger thread and put a bigger nut in bolt in there. I think Pin-it on the board did it. Maybe PM him

easier still MOST cases have threads deeper than the bolt is long, find a longer bolt and presto ready to ride. welding not a good idea as it sometimes distorts the case and can cause seized shift drum or leaking center cases. one caution with longer bolt: if it is too long it will hit some rotating part in the tranny.
MOST drain bolts are tourqed to 12 to 20 foot pounds. if you dont have a tourqe wrench, GET ONE.
