Hello once agin everyone!!! I finally got to ride my bike for the first time the other day and WOW!!!!! These yz 125's have unbeliveable power. So exciteing to twist on the throttle! I cant belive that they even make a 450!! But I was wondering if anyone knows if they make an insert or something for the kicker on my 99 yz125. The ball is fine and after I stretched the spring a little it holds in place pretty well but has alot of slop. The ball made a wear track in the kicker and thats wats causing it. Thats the only problem with the kicker and for a new one is over $100 and of course I dont wanna pay that much just to fix a wear mark. I know how to tie it with inner tube and wire and all thoes tricks but I want to fix it right. I was thinking about useing some jb weld to fill it in but I dont think that would last very long plus it would be hard to get it in the scar only and it probly wont stick very well because its not very wide or deep. My 2nd option is to cut a pop can and line the whole inside and just dimple the hole back in but that might make it too tight. Any suggestions or ideas plese comment. Thanks everyone!

The friction ball has worn a groove and now the kick startr has a mind of it's own? If I am reading it right. Or is it the kick stand?
The best and safest step is a new or used part. Try e-bay. or your local bike junk yard. Next is a bungee cord or some heavy velco strapping.
Take a real good look at the problem part again. Study it and make sure you have identifed the problem before modification-experimentation or part mutulation.
Sometmes some a few well placed hits with a center punch around the ball might just tighten it up.
Many times the wear will be in the hinge or part of the kickstater that rotates. You might be able to put some washers under the snap ring to take up some of the slop...or hit it with a cener ounch to cause some deformation-restriction.
good luck

Pictures would help as well. From reading, the base of the kickstart (that the lever spins on) now has a groove from the ball so its not staying put, correct?
Again a picture would help but you may be able to fill the groove with jb-weld or some other filler and file it smooth.
As a comment; kick start levers are very often neglected in maintenance. I take mine off and grease the shaft where it pivots at least once a year (just make sure you don't lose the ball when you remove it). That helps keep wear down and the lever from corroding and sticking.

Yea it is the kick starter. Iv looked and Im 100% shure of the problem but very good words od advice popeye. Im all about looking very carefully and exploring all simple options b4 cutting or grinding. I can try to take a pic but where the scar is its hard to see in a pic. And yea negelect is the reson for this problem. The grease that was in it was from 99 and NEVER had fresh put in it. It seems all to common people dont wanna do simple maintance to keep cost down. It very cheap and alot of times free and saves a *** load of money 3 years down the road. I would love to get one of your used bikes Dave sounds like you stay on maintenance like I do. But as for my kicker Im going to try to jb the scar and see how long it holds. I already stretched the spring a little and got it to hold in place pretty good. Iv never noticed it sticking out since I stretch the spring but it still moves around a little and It bugs me if something isnt right like the factory made it.I get alot of well almost all of my parts from ebay so ill look there and ask the seller to see if it has a scar from the ball rubbing it. Thanks guys................
