I Dented up the stock pipe on my 2002 cr 250 so i wanted to know if anyone could tell me what is the strongest pipe or at least a way to modify a guard or something to stop the dents from happening again. Any help i would apprecaite thanks

you can actually buy a pipe guard for most all bikes.

If you go down with no pipe gaurd then the pipe itself will have no effect on damage. You want a gaurd. I would recomend a PC plat set up for better bottom end as well.

I would just get a pipe guard. It should be stronger than any stock pipe since it will be twice as thick with it on.

you can speand the extra duckets on a stronger pipe, but rocks are rocks and will dent them too,a guard is lighter stronger and cheaper in the long run. i do alot of hill climbing and dropping the ride is inevitable.

He says he needs a new pipe anyway. The FMF Gnarly is made from thicker steel, but a pipe guard is still a good idea after you get the new pipe.

ok thanks alot but does anyone think there is a way to make a cage from the frame to protect it almost like how street bikes have to protect them when dropping them when stunting. But im think im going with the gnarly cuz i keep hearing about it. With a pipe guard tho

Well given enough time (and money) anything is possible!
What you would have to be careful of is that the new frame didn't become another object to snag a root or tree etc.
A Gnarly with a pipe guard would be pretty strong.

Hey Corey, this is a pipe guard I made myself back in about '94. It cost me next to nothing but it took a while to make. I made it out of steel tube with a pipe bender and the mesh I found lying around in the old mans garage. The guard was set up to bolt up to existing mounts for the frame guards. This was a few moons ago so the details are a little fuzzy but I hope this is helpful if you decide to build one.
It would be fair to say the handguards in that pic aren't the flashest things in the world but they were useful at the time for riding through gorse and stuff.

Hey man thanks for the pic and idea thats exactly what i had an idea of doing, something like that. How thick is the pipe you used ? That set up is just what i was wanting cuz on my cr the pipe sticks way out and keeps denting.
