well i was riding today, getting ready for the race on sunday, and the clutch got worse and worse. it eventually got so bad that i had to constantly half clutch it in order for it to run. and also if you rev it in first gear with the clutch in and the bike isnt moving, you can hear it slipping bad. so now my bike is in pieces. i checked the reeds and i need some of those, a new piston, and a new clutch. there probably other stuff i need too but idk if i want to know about it right now.

agreed I'm doing it hear shortly and I'm due for wheel bearings and linkage bearings. I'm buying a top end kit the bike is still running strong so i might leave the piston alone for awhile. my tires are shot. rebuilding the suspension and probably repainting my frame. then I'll be basically broke lol. by summer i hope to have new plastics and graphics and other cosmetic stuff

yes they do, especially ones that are 2001. i want to fix it up and maintain it nice and sell it. and get a crf250r or something like that. i like the 4 stroke power. and i think its only the clutch kit that needs replacing. if it is the basket and the kit, im screwed. the basket is over 200 bucks.

If it is the basket or hub, buy a good used one off of ebay. I bought 2 for my bike and they only run me a total of about 60 bucks. Now i have a backup if i need it

it really seems like this is the time of year for bike maintenance, doesn't it. You know, there are usually warning signs (like your clutch slipping) that can help you avoid big time expensive repairs. Maybe this is a sign from the moto gods that the bike needs a good going through. Give it a good inspection, man. It could save you in the future.
In the past year I've used a DP Clutch kit that outlasted stock by a long ways and still looks great. Something you might price check at the shop if you're looking for something to last a while. Not sure on reeds since I've been four-stroking it for a while. If you do get that 250F, make sure you keep up the maintenance on that sucker. fresh oil, oil filters and clean air filters make a huge difference.
