I am about to do the forks on my 2001 kx85. I have done them on my cr 125 2004. I just need to know some info on my kx before i start. They look a little differnt fromt he cr but are the forks on the kx cartridge type or like a twin chamber. Just trying to get an idea on waht videos to watch before starting. The 2004 cr125 had cartridge type forks which were easy to change and i am hoping the kx has the same. Twin chamber seems like it could be harder but i am pretty sure most bike from 2005 and up only have those. Am i wrong. Someone please help me.

The video wont come up for me, will have to check it when I get home.
Your best source would be a manual for that bike. It will take you throuth every step.

ya if you could please look at the video and let me know. I think it might be differnt which i hope not. My 125 had the rod on the top that u loosen the clicks. On the kx i am about to do, i think the rod is on the bottom of the fork. Please look at the video and let me know if the youtube vids will work asnd if they wont can u send me a youtube vid that works. Sorry for the troubles but i appreciate the help. Ur the only one who is helping me here.

Im not sure. I dont know to much about th KX85 and not sure if its the same as the CR125. There are many here that have had the 85 and would know, its just a matter of bumping the thread to the top till someone who knows sees it.
In the video they stress, specefic to your machine and show the manuals. I know I would not do this without the manual no matter what video I watched. As I said before, all the steps from start to finish are in the manual.

ya thanks, the manual doesnt help much. It has a few steps on the amount of oil you put in and how to refil your forks, but nothing on replacing the seals.

Kawasaki is the worst for manuals IMO. Do you have the orginal service manual or the operators manual?

Heres what they said about the bike when new:
2001 KAWASAKI KX85 36mm Upside Down Cartridge Fork - Upside down forks are more rigid, providing better steering response and control - Compression damping is 18-way adjustable and the cartridge design means better action - The huge aluminum upper fork tubes measure 49.5mm in diameter for flex-free performance
Suspension type, front Inverted telescopic cartridge fork, 36mm Suspension adjustments, front 18-way compression damping

For that I would say follow the service manual instructions. If your book dont tell you then you need a different/better service book. All the service manuals I have seen explain how to disassemble and reassemble the forks.

alright thanks lol ya the manual stinks. But would you by chance know what the oil capacity is for the fron forks. I have an oil sucker gauge to know where to top it off at and i have those specs. I just want an idea on how much needs to be put all together roughly. Any ideas.
