i gota a problem with my kick start

it is loose on the gear spindle / shaft whatever its called. the screw is tight though so its not that the screw needs to be tightened. can anyone help? its a 79 yamaha enduro 100

Sounds like then the splines (teeth) on the shift lever or shift shaft (or both) could be worn. Typically its the splines on the shift lever that wear first before the shaft.
If thats the case (which it appears to be as you can't get it to stay tight) your best bet is to get a new shift lever.
Since its a 1979; you may have some problems finding one listed specifically for it but if you take it off and go to the dealer you may find one that will fit and work.
You can also check eBay; you may find an OEM replacement one.

the teeth on both spots look ok. it was always very tight including yesterday but 2day its not. is there a washer or something that goes between them missing?
